Craft of Clay

Explore the fine art and craft of clay work – making pottery and clay sculpture by hand. Casa d’ Arte is a special place for handbuilders who love to work in clay without needing a wheel.

We discuss suitable clay for projects, surfaces and marks, sculpture, figurative sculpture, sculpt from a life model, functional vessels, glazes and firing, how to topics and expert tips.

The most important element in your time at Casa d’Arte is personal practice.

Sculpture and Figurative Sculpture

Workshops run for eight weeks with students attending 2 ½ hours per week. You can start on any term throughout the year. These workshops are for all skill levels and aim to develop your knowledge and understanding of all aspects of creating sculpture. Those new to sculpture will learn alongside other students and are given personalised attention, learning the basics and colouring to produce their own finished sculpture. More advanced students will develop their techniques and are encouraged to drive their own projects with the guidance of Natalie. Everyone is invited to encounter a unique artistic experience in an inspiring studio space!
