Life Sculpting - Sculpting from a Life Model
Coming soon! Express interest.
Life Sculpting offers the opportunity to find an expression for how we might physically represent emotion in the figure study.
You will be guided both through the process involved in working with clay from the life model. Natalie will encourage students to push their work beyond a merely faithful representation of the body and develop a more personal language or means of expression.
Students will have time to bring their work to a point where it is hollowed out and ready to be dried for firing. The beauty of clay as a material that can be transformed from the raw to a final and enduring sculptural piece.
First half of workshop will be life drawing, second half will be sculpting. You do have the choice of drawing throughout the session.
Clay can be purchased at Casa d’ Arte or you can source your own clay. Further information is given on booking.
Bookings are to be taken up front due to small class size.
Clay and Chardonnay
Cheese and wine nights are great, but when you combine them with learning some fun hands-on skills then it becomes something special. That's why Casa D'Arte hosts monthly wine and cheese ceramic workshops in its studio. Start the workshop enjoying a glass of wine, unwind and get your hands dirty making your own handbuilt ceramic piece. Natalie will guide you on hand building techniques, how to manipulate and join clay to ensure success. You then have the option to underglaze and decorate your ceramics.
This 2 1/2 hour workshop is suitable for beginners and for those looking to create vessels without the use of a pottery wheel, focusing on the free-form organic qualities that hand building can offer.
Natalie will supply all materials. Please allow approximately three weeks to be ready for collection.
Projects are but not limited to: condiment bowls, platter, mugs, planter, cheeseboard set, coiled vase. If you have a personal project in mind, please discuss with Natalie beginning of the class.
